Strawberry Festival
For more than 80 years, the Vashon Island Strawberry Festival has delighted the people of Vashon and Maury Islands as well as visitors from abroad. You will find over 100 arts and crafts booths featuring ceramics, garden art, food products, clothing, sculpture, stained glass, and more.Specialty foods ' many from Vashon producers ' and musical entertainment are also highlights of this July event. Vashon Allied Arts
Vashon Allied Arts is the oldest community arts organization in Washington State. It operates the Blue Heron Gallery ' located in an historic landmark building on the main highway, it is home to a variety of theatre and dance programs and monthly exhibits of visual art ' as well as the Heron's Nest, a gift shop featuring regional artists and crafts people located in downtown Vashon. Vashon Community Service Center
Vashon and Maury Islands are in unincorporated King County. Vashon Public Library
The Vashon Library offers a wide range of educational and recreational resources for all ages. The collection ' part of the King County Library System ' includes a wide selection of books, large print titles, books on tape, magazines, compact discs, cassettes and videos. Washington State Ferry
Vashon Island is serviced by the Washington State Ferry System. Car ferries run from the Fauntleroy ferry dock in West Seattle and the Southworth ferry dock in Kitsap County to the north end of Vashon Island. Another car ferry runs between Tacoma's Point Defiance and the Tahlequah ferry dock at the south end of the island. There is also a passenger-only ferry from Downtown Seattle to the north end of Vashon.
